3 Tips for Celebrating Your Anniversary

Celebrating Your Anniversary

Anniversaries can be stressful, but they don’t have to be. If you set expectations early, you can avoid any grievances down the road. There is a reason you got married, so consider the following ways to celebrate every year.

1. Exchange Presents

Many people in relationships tell each other not to get anything for this occasion. Unfortunately, miscommunication happens and everyone involved can get hurt. You can err on the side of caution and set something up anyway. Some couples like to opt for gold jewelry gifts. Others prefer homemade gestures such as poems that express how much you care for one another. If you do go down the store-bought route, you may contemplate getting a gift receipt.

2. Take a Trip Together

The world is your oyster. Whether you prefer city life or nature scenes, there is no standard vacation for everyone. Here is a sample of the wide array of getaways you can plan:

  • Tent camping and hiking
  • Ocean cruise
  • Guided city tour
  • Safari
  • Music festival
  • RV trek

Depending on your interests and budget, there is no justification you can’t find something suitable for you both. You can even combine some of these ideas if you are feeling particularly adventurous. Wherever you decide to go, check the local public health guidelines. If you plan to leave the country, prepare your passports, arrange appropriate visas ahead of time and book any accommodations before you go.

3. Keep It Simple

Some people prefer to keep celebrations lowkey. Extravagance can turn what should be a happy and peaceful moment into an anxiety-inducing nightmare. Homebodies can have fun too, though. Homecooked meals are a good place to start. For those who don’t like to spend too much time in the kitchen, they can order their favorite takeout. Other activities include playing video/board games, doing arts and crafts, watching movies or just turning the lights low while listening to music.

Remember, it’s the thought that counts. If you truly love someone, don’t be afraid to show them.
