4 Cozy Home Improvements for Fall

4 Cozy Home Improvements for Fall

As the weather gets progressively colder, darker, and wetter, there is no better time than the start of Fall to invest in a few home improvements to make your living space extra cozy in preparation for the long winter ahead. If you’re stuck for ideas on how to improve your ‘nest’ for the cold season, here are some tips!

Seasonal cushions

Season-specific home decorations are something that most people will be familiar with as a Christmas tradition. There’s no reason, however, why you can’t buy yourself some plush, colorful Fall-themed cushions to make the long dark months in the run-up to December extra cozy. The impressive range available at Michael’s, for example, includes pumpkin-themed cushions for Halloween and gratitude-themed ones for Thanksgiving, as well as more generic Fall-themed decorations such as an incredibly cute “Let’s cuddle” cushion which features orange and brown leaves. If you do normally decorate your house for Christmas, Hannukah, or other winter festivities, a money-and space-saving option could be to buy seasonal cushion, pillow, and comforter covers for both seasons and simply change them over at the required time, keeping the ‘fillers’ in place.

A large bean bag

Bean bags are the height of comfortable seating, especially ones that come with a plush, fuzzy cover for extra softness. At Sumo Lounge, you can buy yourself a huge bean bag and choose not only the color but also the type of fabric you would like for its cover. This type of seating will make a perfect addition to your home and provide you and your loved ones with an excellent spot where you can curl up with a cup of coffee and a book.

A milk frother

Speaking of coffee, as Fall approaches, you will want to make sure that you have the ability to make yourself some comforting hot drinks for when the gray skies, the cold, and the rain get a bit too much. A milk frother like the Aeroccino 4 from Nespresso will allow you to quickly produce barista-level milk froth so you can recreate your favorite milky coffees at home for a fraction of the price. This model looks essentially like a milk jug and comes with four different programs, but if budget is an issue, you can also make do with a handheld milk frother, which is much simpler and smaller and looks a little like a miniature immersion blender. For that extra Fall feeling, you could even add some of Torani’s pumpkin spice syrup to your homemade coffees.

A blanket with sleeves

When you are sitting on your new extra-large bean bag, with a seasonal cushion propping up your head and a steaming mug of pumpkin spice latte in one hand, you will want to make sure that your whole body is kept cozy and warm—including your mug-holding hand! A blanket with sleeves, such as the Slanket, will keep your whole body toasty during those long Fall and winter nights. There’s even a two-person version for your romantic nights in!
