Welcome to The Great Try-On. With spring officially in full swing, it’s time to ready your wardrobe, and we’re here to provide a little shopping inspiration. We got to try on some of the best spring pieces from some of your favorite brands and documented it all from our at-home dressing rooms so that you can see how they actually look IRL. We hope that our photos and candid reviews will help you shop for spring wardrobe builders that you’ll wear over and over this season and beyond.

I’m going to be honest here—until a few months ago, I didn’t own many wardrobe basics. When I started going back into the office and getting dressed more often, I realized that I had fallen victim to the speedy trend cycle and was racing through different pieces that quickly caught my eye on the market instead of investing in pieces that would stay in my closet for the long haul. I thought minimalistic pieces would be boring, but in fact, those were the pieces I was missing to get the most out of my wardrobe. To my surprise, H&M has recently upgraded its basics and was my first go-to for finding elevated pieces on a budget.

I only added a few new pieces to my closet, but those few pieces have helped me think of outfits I never would’ve thought of before. I’m impressed, H&M. From poplin shirts to relaxed trousers, I got to try on a variety of H&M’s luxe basics, and it’s safe to say most of them passed the test. I always get compliments when I wear them and have been asked by multiple co-workers for the links to my purchases. If you want to upgrade your basics game and see what I loved from my H&M haul, keep scrolling.
